GPS3 Watch
Your watch has an inbuilt set of “rules” it uses to determine each time you catch a wave. The rules use speed, acceleration, deceleration and direction changes to define “a wave”. You might see your quick sprint into the surf count as “a wave”. Or you might find a slow, small or short wave does not register.
The GPS3 has a setting at the beginning of every SURF or SURF COMP you track called surf size sensitivity which gives you the ability to choose the best ‘rules’ for the conditions:
- SMALL best for slow or short waves,
- LARGE best for fast or long waves and
- REGULAR best allrounder.
We are constantly working on ways to improve this wave counting ability. When we do, you will receive a firmware update request that will bring any improved functions to your SearchGPS watch.
GPS2 Watch
Just like the GPS3, the GPS2 uses speed and acceleration to determine record a wave. The rules use speed, acceleration, deceleration and direction changes to define “a wave”. You might see your quick sprint into the surf count as “a wave”.
Or you might find a slow, small or short wave does not register. We are constantly working on ways to improve this wave counting ability. When we do, you will receive a firmware update request that will bring any improved functions to your SearchGPS watch.
